Biography

Dr. Yasmeen Hayat is a dedicated Clinical Psychologist trained in the United Kingdom and the United States, with a deep commitment to mental health care in Kuwait. Fluent in both English and Arabic, Dr. Hayat brings a unique cultural understanding to her practice. Embracing a holistic approach to mental well-being, Dr. Hayat integrates evidence-based therapy models into her practice, emphasizing each client’s unique strengths.

In Kuwait, her past clinical experience spans from focused practice and research in the field of autism to working with children, adolescents, and adults. In the UK, she gained experience across a range of services for children and adults, particularly those with intellectual disabilities and complex health conditions. Her extensive education includes a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University College London (UCL), a Master's in Psychology from New York University (NYU), and a Bachelor's in Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC). Additionally, she holds a foundation-level certificate in Systemic Therapy and is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

In her therapeutic practice, Dr. Hayat fosters a safe and non-judgmental space, empowering clients to navigate life's complexities. Her compassionate care extends to tailoring therapeutic goals to meet individual needs and helping clients embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. Dr. Hayat’s clinical interests lie in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and mood disorders, third-wave CBT approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based interventions for acute and long-term conditions, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) for interpersonal relationship conflicts, and integrative approaches to working with children and families including individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities.
